The Hiller Instinct: First Date, First Lady?
Their date ended with a kiss. It began last month at a forum, when Kucinich, a twice-divorced bachelor, joked about a national search to find him a first lady.
PoliticsNH.com, a primary news Web site responded with an Internet contest, which attracted eighty potential mates, including 34-year-old Gina Marie Santore, from New Jersey.
"I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet a presidential contender. I think Dennis is right on many of the issues."Gina Marie Santore, Contest Winner
Santore won the contest in a photo finish, beating finalists including a first cousin of democratic frontrunner Howard Dean…
"She squeaked it out with 51.4 percent of the vote, so..."James Pindell, PoliticsNH.com
Andy Hiller
"Did you get the recount in Florida on that?"
"The whole thing was a very above board, incredible (laughs)."James Pindell
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D) Presidential Candidate
Kucinich took Santore to breakfast in a New Hampshire hotel. The pair spent about an hour together, talking mostly about policy:
Andy Hiller
"Do you endorse him?"
"Oh, absolutely!"Gina Marie Santore
Andy Hiller
"How would you compare this endorsement to Al Gore's?"
"I think it's much more significant and based on actual discussion."Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D)
One subject they did not discuss is her live-in boyfriend…
"I'm totally respectful of Gina Marie's space here."Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D)
Still, both were impressed during the breakfast…
"She's so smart and so knowledgeable about so many things that relate to the practical concerns that people have."Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D)
Andy Hiller
"And did you find him as intelligent as he found you?"
"Absolutely."Gina Marie Santore

The New Hampshire primary is steeped in history, but nothing steeped quite like this. It's the historic possibility that, together, presidential politics and the Internet could produce a first date that could produce a first lady.
