And that's something Mia Klein knows all too well.

Mia had her third son at forty. And while she cherishes every minute with him, she admits it can sometimes be draining.

"It's not easy sometimes, getting the energy you know, that's why I like caffeine, I do very well with it."

Suzan Wolpow, a psychotherapist and forty-something mom herself, started a group geared towards Moms in their forties, seeing a need to help women connect around common concerns, so she started a group geared toward moms in their 40s.

"I think often times, your peers and family and friends are at a different stage, they either had kids earlier or don't have kids and so you really need to start networking."

The group meets twice a month, and is designed to give women support, advice and problem solving skills, which is great for new moms like Melissa.

"There are several women who have older children than I do and it's nice to get a perspective from someone who's been there once or twice."

Experts say make sure you think things through and have a good support system in place - before you decide to start family.

"Because if you're in your 40s when you have your child or children, they are going to be at the college age when you are retiring, and so you have to think about how you are going to work that."
