Room For Improvement: Haverhill guestroom

Very few people have ever seen this room inside a Haverhill home. As you can see there are clothes, clothes and more clothes. Homeowner Erin Harrington admits this room is more like a closet.

"It was really the type of room I didn't want anyone to go in. I wouldn't even go in to clean it, and I would just keep the door shut."

Wanting to put the lid on it all, we brought in "Room For Improvement" designer Melanie Murphy.

It's now time to make this room into a guestroom. The first big change is a fresh coating of paint.

A full size bed with a wild comforter is put in place. Big matching pillows always help make a bed look inviting. And over the bed, a trendy circular centerpiece helps bring different textures to this room.

"It is a young family, and I wanted it to be fun and hip and energetic."

Need to make a room cozy? Add extra soft lighting. Two lamps top a hug dresser that is perfect for all those clothes that once consumed this room.

Bamboo style window treatments are stylish and help create some privacy.

And to create some romance, a pair of glasses is set on top of a bed tray.

Now, let's see if our homeowner will toast to her new guestroom.

The budget for this room was $1700, and that is just what our designer spent. That's pretty good, considering it includes a new dresser and one, cozy bed.
