Special Report: Wedding flower contest

It might not feel like spring just yet, but flowers are blooming at Petali Flowers in Cambridge. But finding funds for flowers might be difficult for some people in this tough economy, especially brides.

John Selletto, Petali Flowers Owner
"The vibe with weddings and brides is they're cutting back. They don't have the money to spend for big elaborate weddings, for flowers."

Which is why owner John Selletto wants to help by giving one local bride free flowers. A value up to $2,500!

John Selletto, Petali Flowers Owner
"That would entail, you know, like the bouquets, the corsages, boutonnieres, all the bridal party, centerpieces."

After years of experience, Selletto knows how important a beautiful bouquet is to a bride.

"The one thing I do notice is that brides are nervous. Ok, so when we make a really nice bouquet it has some weight to it, it kind of holds them and grounds them."

So how will this lucky bride be selected?

John Selletto, Petali Flowers Owner
"Just write a simple paragraph about why she should be chosen. And then a group of people, not me, will sit down, read them, and decide which bride needs the help."

It's a chance to let one bride stop and smell the roses without having to break the bank.

John Selletto, Petali Flowers Owner
"That would be my way of doing what I can, from a small flower shop here, to help someone out."
