EEO Recruitment Outreach
Job vacancies which were filled within the reporting period are listed with
information on the sources utilized for recruitment. The list identifies the
sources utilized for each position, the recruitment source of the hiree and the
number of persons interviewed from each source. All entities received job

Progress on Outreach Initiatives (12/01/05 - 11/30/06)
1. Hosted a booth at the Annual National Association of Black Journalists
Convention in August of 2006 in Indianapolis. This is an annual gathering of
professional journalists throughout the country and includes a 3 day job fair.
At the booth, candidates for current and future job openings at WHDH and
WSVN, Miami, were interviewed. Contacts were made with applicants,
candidates for internships and future employment prospects from across the
country.
2. Co-sponsored a booth at the National Association of Hispanic Journalists
convention in June of 2006. This was a gathering of journalists from across
the country. The Job Fair included an opportunity to meet with current and
future job prospects for WSVN and WHDH-TV.
3. Attended Open House for Digital Media and Broadcasting at New England
Institute of Art on April 28, 2006. This was held to introduce students who
are majoring in media and may be future prospects for hire and for college
internships at WHDH-TV.
4. Hosted the Professor who sponsors journalism and production internships for
the College of Communications at Boston University for a tour, meetings with
Internship supervisors here at WHDH and a luncheon in July of 2006.
5. WHDH personnel attended a Job Fair at Suffolk University Law School, sponsored by the Communications Collaborative made up of career counselors of students in
Communications at Emmanual, Simmons, Boston College, Suffolk University,
Northeastern University on October 25, 2006.
6. Sent mailings biweekly to agencies announcing all job opportunities at
WHDH and inviting interested applicants to submit resumes, view the latest
opportunities on our website, etc.
7. Hosted students at WHDH for college internships. Conducted orientation
programs each semester for incoming students. Advertised internships with
mailings to local colleges and by posting all on our website at all times.

8. Open positions are posted on our website along with internship information.
The Massachusetts Division of Unemployment Assistance acceses this to
update their job data bank.
9. Mailings to area agencies announce job and internship opportunities.
10. Employment advertisements include the website reference. Publications
utilized are Boston Globe, Boston Herald, occasionally. Technical publications
are utilized for a small number of openings. Included are Television Week,
Broadcasting and Cable, Spots 'N Dots. Websites include journalismjobs.com,
Bostonworks.com, craigslist.com, creativecow, graemenewell, tvspy.com,
Ire.org on an occasional basis for specific technical positions.
11. All employment notices and advertisements or listings indicate that WHDH
