Girls rescued from thin ice in East Bridgewater

EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Three 12-year-old girls were rescued while trying to save a dog on a local river.
Officials said it was amazing that the young girls did not fall through the ice.
"It was a real threat of them falling through," said Chief Ryan Pratt, of the East Bridgewater Fire Dept. "There was standing water on both sides of the ice."
The three were trying to save a dog that ran into the river after a snowball.
Fire officials saved the dog and children, who were stuck in the woods on the other side of the river.
"Don't go on the ice, especially on a river," said Allison Salisbury, who needed to be rescued.
