STOW, Mass. -- A red tail hawk went after an unusual moving target Sunday - a man jogging on Boone Road.

Jerry De Zutter was running down the road when a hawk swooped down right at his head.

The hawk grabbed Jerry’s hat and went after his scalp.

He described the incident, saying “as I was catching my balance, there is this big flap of wings in my ears and face and it hit me pretty hard. The impact of the bird is what shocked me the most.”

Last summer at Fenway Park a hawk that is believed to have been protecting its nest struck a girl near home plate during a Red Sox game.

Like all birds of pretty, red tail hawks are protected by state and federal laws.

Wildlife experts say if you see one, try to stay away from it.
