Mass. teen placed at scene of shooting by GPS

BOSTON -- A Boston teenager prosecutors say was placed at the scene of a fatal shooting because he was wearing an electronic monitoring device has been ordered held without bail.
Damante Burrell was arrested on a first-degree murder charge on Thursday and ordered held by a clerk magistrate. He is due back in court on Aug. 18.
Prosecutors say the 16-year-old Burrell was the gunman who shot 49-year-old Fred Bing during a drive-by shooting in the city's Dorchester neighborhood on May 13.
Prosecutors say Burrell was in the custody of the state Department of Youth Services at the time of the shooting and was wearing a GPS ankle bracelet that placed him at the scene.
Burrell's lawyer did not immediately return a message left before business hours Friday.
