Feds bust 9 in drug conspiracy
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Nine people are facing federal drug charges after the Drug Enforcement Administration broke up a heroin and crack distribution conspiracy.
The U.S. Attorney's office says nine people appeared in court on Friday to answer the drug charges.
Prosecutors say that between late last year and this week, 39-year-old Stephen Aguiar of Quincy, Mass., supplied drugs that were distributed in the Burlington area.
On Thursday and Friday federal agents searched residences in Vermont and Massachusetts and seized more than $100,000 in cash.
Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration spent months investigating the case, including wiretaps on Aguiar's cell phone and several controlled buys of drugs.
