Arrest made in Brookline sexual assault
BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Police made an arrest in connection to the sexual assault of a 30-year-old woman in the Coolidge Corner area.
Jose Arita, 25, was arrested when a Boston Police officer recognized his truck from broadcast reports.
Police said the suspect is a married father and a suspected illegal immigrant. He was arrested at his Brighton home Thursday morning.
Arita pleaded not guilty in court to the sexual attack that happened in Brookline early Tuesday morning.
The attack allegedly happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on Harvard Street after she got out of a cab.
Police said two male suspects reportedly hit the victim on the head from behind, tried to strangle her, and threw her in a red pick-up truck that was waiting on a nearby street.
The suspects then sexually assaulted her in a parking lot, according to police.
Brookline Police have asked immigration officers to step in to examine Arita's status.
Prosecutors said Arita is one of two suspects. Police are still looking for the second suspect.
