Nahant man rescued after being swept into ocean

NAHANT, Mass. -- A man was rescued Saturday afternoon after a powerful wave swept him 40 feet offshore.
The 43-year-old man was fishing off of rocks at East Point Beach when the monstrous wave, generated by Hurricane Bill, struck the shoreline.
Rescuers pulled him to safety after a witness dialed 9-1-1.
The man is now listed in critical condition.
Similar events have prompted the state to temporarily ban swimming at eight area beaches. In Hull, a Coast Guard helicopter rescued two people and a dog who were stranded after their boat was swept into several rocks.
