NEWTON, Mass. -- A local family who recently lost their father could soon lose their home.
Jeff Beatrice, 49, was a well-known athletic coach and father of 11. He died of a heart attack less than two weeks ago.
Days later, his wife Elinor was informed that their home was going into foreclosure and that it would be auctioned off.
It was supposed to happen this week, but the family has been given an extra 60 days to fix the problem.
Friends and family are trying to step in to stop that from happening.
“There’s up and down. Mornings are tough. He was not a quiet guy. He walked loud, talked loud. He was just very animated. We’ve been struggling, but I thought that he would be here with me to whatever the outcome, but now that he’s not, it’s very difficult. ,” said Elinor Beatrice.
The couple has children ranging in age from five years to 27 years.
Memorial donations may be made to the: Jeffrey Beatrice Family Fund, c/o The Village Bank, 307 Auburn St, Auburndale, MA 02466.
