CHARLESTOWN, Mass. -- Some Charlestown residents are trying to silence a famous piece of history.
Neighbors want to get rid of the weekend cannon blasts from the U.S.S. Constitution.
They also want to turn down the volume of the national anthem recording played during the daily flag raising and lowering ceremonies.
The ship's spokesman responded by saying that muffling the blasts would undermine a time-honored patriotic ritual.
