BOSTON -- A happy homecoming for a baby who's plight has made national headlines.

Baby Giovanni was finally released from Children's Hospital after six months of treatment.

The New Hampshire infant's headed home after getting a life-saving transplant in his fight against a rare genetic disease.

Sporting a pint-sized superhero outfit, baby Giovanni is finally going home.

The 9-month-old from Belmont, New Hampshire caught the world's attention after he was diagnosed with Nevo Deficiency -- a rare genetic disease that attacks the immune system and vital organs.

Often it is deadly.

Giovanni had to have chemo-treatments just to keep him alive.

After a desperate international search for a bone marrow or stem cell donor, doctors finally found the match they needed -- stems cells from an umbilical cord registry.

Six weeks after his stem cell transplant, Giovanni shows progress. Those eyes still as bright as ever; he's healthy enough to go home.

Complications are still very possible, but this baby's family has all the faith that their son will eventually have a normal and healthy life.
