ROSLINDALE, Mass. -- Only 7NEWS was at the scene as a family was transported to the hospital after an apparent hit-and-run on the streets of Boston.

The 4-year-old girl was riding with her parents outbound on American Legion Highway in Roslindale when another vehicle struck their SUV. Their car rolled all the way across to the other side of the highway before smacking into a fence.

Yet police have a clue to who caused the accident. The driver's bumper fell off at the scene of the crash, with the vehicle's license plate still attached.

Authorities are using the bumper and license plate to help track down the suspect.

Dwayne Watts, who witnessed the accident and tried help the victims, said that the girl was left hanging out of the window after the crash with a bad case of road rash.

"When this car started flipping, it started flipping towards me," said Watts. "So, I just stopped and just hoped neither one of the cars was going to hit me. So, I sort of maneuvered out of the way... and just helped the guys try to get his daughter out of the side."

All of the victims were transported to Boston Medical Center for medical treatment. Their condition as of Monday afternoon was unknown.
