Body of woman found wrapped in blanket

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Police say the death of a woman found wrapped in a blanket in the basement of a Springfield home is considered suspicious.

But investigators say there was no obvious sign of foul play and it's too early to say whether the death was a homicide, or resulted from a drug overdose or some other cause.

The unidentified body was discovered yesterday afternoon in the basement of the Marble Street home after a neighbor reported a foul odor.

A police official said it appeared the woman had been dead for at least a week.
