City councilor says that holiday display creates a hazard

BOSTON -- John Tobin, Boston City Councilor, is concerned by the amount of traffic in front of one festive home.

Tobin has asked Dominic Luberto, of Jamaica Plain, to hire a police detail to direct traffic in front of his home, which is decorated with approximately 500,000 lights. The councilman believes that the brightly lit home could distract drivers and cause an accident.

“While nothing may have happened last year and nothing has happened so far this year, I think we’re just tempting fate,” Tobin said.

Luberto says that he doesn’t plan to provide any police presence or scale back his operation.
