Police ask public to help identify purse thief

The suspect was seen on surveillance cameras cashing the victim's check at TD Banknorth on South Willow Street in Manchester. Police have released the video.
The theft happened around 10 a.m. on April 12 at Shaw's supermarket at 375 South Willow Street.
According to the victim, she had been shopping at the market in the produce section when she discovered that he purse had been stolen from her cart, said police. The black leather purse contained a checkbook as well as several debit and credit cards.
The victim, whose name has not been released, told police when she attempted to cancel her cards and checkbook, she learned that someone had already cashed one of her stolen checks for $700 at the bank.
The woman showed a New Hampshire's drivers license for identification to a bank teller as the payee on the check. Police later learned that the license was one of the several items in another wallet theft reported stolen to police on April 9.
Officials are hoping someone will be able to identify the woman from the bank surveillance photo.
