Teacher files charges vs. kid over gun drawing

TAUNTON, Mass. -- A fifth grade teacher filed charges against a 10-year-old student after he sketched a violent picture that appeared to involve her and a gun.

Cullen Smithson drew the picture after his teacher told him to re-do his work. The finished drawing showed a stick figure holding up what appears to be a gun, with the word "me" over it. The second stick figure says the teacher's name, "Mrs. Boudreau," said police.

Karen Boudreau is a math teacher at Mulcahey Middle School in Taunton. She filed a report with police and said that she wants charges filed to help the student and for the safety of the remainder of the class.

"He didn't threaten anyone, he didn't show it to anyone, it was under his desk, he never said I'm going to kill you or shoot you," said Angela Smithson, the boy's mother.

However, his mother said that she does not condone her son's drawing at all.

Cullen Smithson is no longer a part of Boudreau's class and there will be a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to charge the boy.
