Fox attacks woman returning home from walk

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- A Bridgewater resident is happy to be alive after she was attacked by a fox outside of her Edgewater Drive home.
Shirley Doyle, 71, was returning home from a walk when she was attacked by a possibly rabid fox Saturday night.
"It latched onto my ankle..." Doyle said.
The attack lasted for about 15-minutes before a neighbor threw the fox off of her. The neighbor then held the fox down until emergency crews and killed the animal before treating Doyle.
"I thanked him for my life. I said 'I'll never know how to ever repay you,'" Doyle said.
An autopsy is being done to determine whether the fox was infected with rabies. Doyle is undergoing treatment for rabies as a precaution.
