WOBURN, Mass. -- Prosecutors say an Everett man who was a custodian and junior varsity basketball coach at the city's high school has been indicted on charges that he raped a 12-year-old boy.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office says a grand jury indicted 57-year-old Robert Shea on three counts of child rape, four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and open and gross lewdness.

An arraignment date had not been scheduled

Prosecutors allege that in 2007, Shea repeatedly raped and assaulted the boy, whom he knew, at Shea's Everett home and in the former Everett High School building.

The alleged victim went to Everett police in April.

Shea's attorney, Mark Griffith, did not immediately return a call for comment Friday.
