BOSTON -- The first day of September brings new college students, new leases, and new tenants to Boston neighborhoods.
This year, Mayor Thomas M. Menino collaborated with various city departments to conduct a walkthrough of neighborhoods with high student populations. Officials aimed to make the annual move-in weekend run smoothly and efficiently.
Mayor Menino discussed the city's efforts to ensure that students are moving into safe and sanitary homes. City officials were on hand to provide services where needed.
The most violations were found in the Allston-Brighton area, with 150 violations. Mission Hill came in with 73 violations and 47 were found in the Fenway area.
