Gun found in backpack at Dorchester school

BOSTON -- A gun was found in a backpack inside a local school on Wednesday, said police.

The bag was found just before 11 a.m. in a closet inside the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School, which is located at 270 Columbia Road in Dorchester.

Police determined that the weapon belonged to a school employee.

James Jackson, 30, was arrested.

Classes are scheduled to start on Thursday.
