Assault suspect held without bail

BOSTON -- A convicted sex offender charged with attempting to rape a woman in a bathroom at Massachusetts General Hospital has been ordered held without bail.

David Flavell was indicted by a grand jury and then ordered held Tuesday pending a dangerousness hearing Dec. 4 in Superior Court.

Flavell is accused of attacking a 27-year-old hospital employee on Oct. 22. She escaped.

A court psychologist previously said Flavell believes he is hearing voices and has been diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder.

The 40-year-old Flavell is a Level 3 sex offender, considered the most likely to re-offend.
