
Byron Barnett joined 7NEWS in April 1983. During his many years with 7NEWS, Byron has covered a wide range of major stories of both local and national interest.
Before joining 7NEWS, Byron worked as the Minneapolis City Hall reporter for KSTP-TV (ABC) in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Barnett won the Minnesota Page One Spot News Award for a story about a firefighter who died in the line of duty. The Minnesota chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, the professional journalism association, sponsored the competition.
Barnett is graduate of the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis where he earned his bachelor's degree in journalism.
Byron was born and raised in Minneapolis. He currently resides in Norfolk County, Mass. with his wife and their three children.
