Susan Tran joined 7News in March 2010. This is her third time working in Boston but most recently Susan was in Charlotte, North Carolina where she was an anchor and reporter.
Whether she's covering breaking news, digging for an exclusive interview, trudging through floodwaters or sharing the stories of extraordinary people, Susan's energetic style and lively storytelling exemplify her love for reporting. She's interviewed a President, several Governors and a dozen Hollywood stars. But her favorite stories are the ones about human struggle or ordinary people with interesting tales to tell.
Just out of college, Susan worked on the Newton Nanny story. Since then she's been at the frontlines of historical and national events like the Obama/Biden ticket turning North Carolina into a blue state for the first time in three decades, the banking crisis with Bank of America based in Charlotte, the failed Time Square bomber and the Massacre in Manchester, CT. She's even volunteered to be dropped into a frozen lake while wearing a neoprene suit to illustrate the dangers of thin ice; for which she won an AP award. Susan has also been nominated for several regional Emmy awards.
Susan graduated magna cum laude from Boston University. She's served as a board member and volunteer for KIPP Charlotte, was a volunteer for DonorsChoose.org, a dedicated ‘Big Sister' in the Big/Little Sister program, and a trustee at Cazenovia College. Susan speaks conversational Mandarin-Chinese and in 2009 finally got an opportunity to visit her parents' homeland. Susan is a native of Los Angeles but is thrilled to be back in her favorite city.
