A Touch Of Snow

Posted by Chris Lambert

In a month that can spawn vicious snowstorms (35th anniversary of the Blizzard of '78 this week), we have a relatively quiet pattern over the next several days, aside from a bit of light snow that falls over the 2nd half of the weekend.

Early this evening, snow showers are in and out across the Cape and Islands, as well as Buzzards Bay.  For most of us, we're flake free until midnight, but after that, a few flurries and scattered snow showers slide through.  MetroWest, South Shore and North Shore, coatings of snow by tomorrow morning are hit or miss from town to town thanks to the scattered nature of these snow showers.  However, it's more likely that a coating to an inch of snow greet many areas across the Cape and  Islands and Buzzards Bay by early Sunday, thanks to more more moisture there with a southwest wind off the water.

Light snow tomorrow takes a break for many areas mid morning, into the early afternoon, only to see another tick up in snow shower activity mid afternoon into the night.  The steadiest snow once again is across the Cape and Islands with a total of 1-3" falling there.  Coastal Plymouth County from Marshfield on south, back into southern Bristol County, pick up 1-2" totals by early Monday AM, with a general coating to an inch for the rest of us.  The bottom line is, the big ocean storm gets it's act together too late to give us a big snowstorm, but there will occasionally be slippery spots starting tonight, through tomorrow night.

The rest of the week looks uneventful and cool with a few flurries Wednesday, and perhaps a batch of snow, mix and rain on Friday.  Plenty of time to watch that one.

Back and Forth

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70.  Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

Strong Finish

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies.  Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?

Still Good

How about yesterday?  The 82 in Boston matched the warmest temp we've had since September 13th.  Of course, with a wind gusting past 30mph and relative humidity near 18%, it certainly didn't feel oppressive.
