Summer rang in at 1:04AM today with the solstice, and right on cue, summer weather settled in. Temps this afternoon reached the lower to middle 80s, providing a nice day overall. We did manage for a few towns to pick up a shower, but they were few and far between.
Mainly clear skies prevail overnight as temps fall to near 60 degrees. With temperatures near 60 degrees to start tomorrow, the warm-up will be quick as highs head for the 80s. Some clouds mix in with the sun this weekend from complexes of showers and storms to our west and northwest, but much of the time is warm and dry. I can't rule out a passing afternoon storm, especially northwest of Boston, but the threat is overall low. About 10% chance of a storm Saturday and 30% on Sunday.
Monday and Tuesday feature the peak of the heat and humidity with highs near 90, and just an isolated storm firing in the afternoon.
Warmth and humidity continue on Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s. However, the risk for more widespread storms is higher.
How about the Mountains or the Cape this weekend? Best chance for afternoon storms will be across the mountains. Temps near 80 there tomorrow and near 84 on Sunday. The Cape will be the cooler, mid 70s Saturday and upper 70s Sunday, but also dry, and certainly a good place to be on this first week of summer.
Have a good one, and we'll see some of you at the Health and Fitness Expo this weekend.
